Robert L. Shepard, Owner/Principal

Bob Shepard has over 41 years of experience in all phases of real estate acquisition, development and property management. Prior to founding Shepard Construction and Development, LLC, Bob served as Senior Vice President of Modern Continental Enterprises, where he grew the company from a developer of small subdivisions to the fifth largest homebuilder in Massachusetts. He was also responsible for Modern Continental's extensive Commercial Development and Marine Divisions which, in addition to developing major commercial properties throughout Boston, also operated two area marinas, a marine transportation company and a waterfront hotel and restaurant.

Bob also has extensive experience in portfolio management, project financing, contract negotiations, construction, zoning, development, marine property development, sales and marketing. At Modern Continental, with an annual budget in excess of $86 million, he was instrumental in completing more than 450 property transactions valued at over $500 million, and managed over one million square feet of residential, retail and commercial/office property. Bob was responsible for the construction of over 1,700 homes as well as distinctive and unique projects such as Independence Wharf, a 14-story, 370,000 square foot Boston waterfront renovation, and Caribbean Jewel Beach Resort, a 594-unit resort development on the island of St. Lucia, West Indies. In addition, Bob has redeveloped/renovated numerous projects throughout Boston's Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.

Bob has a degree in Business Administration from Quincy College. He is a member of the Builders Associations of Greater Boston and the National Home Builders Association. He also holds a Massachusetts Construction Supervisors license and Remodelers license.
